This is going to be an odd kind of post. But what else can you expect from a woman that dyes her pubic hair green for a St Paddy's day appointment with the GynOncologist.
It all started with an article on finger length and personality. That got me looking at my hands and comparing my fingers with each other.
I'm someone that likes visual balance. Pictures need to be level. Wreaths and door mats should be centered. Designs should be symmetrical.
The human body is designed symmetrically, though not perfectly. One side is almost always bigger than the other, to some small degree. Experts claim that facial attractiveness is determined by how close the features are to perfect symmetry.
But back to my hands.
Putting my hands together, I see that my right hand is bigger than my left. That is expected. Except for my index fingers. They're the same size. My fingers are out of balance. For the rest of my life, I will repeatedly notice that discrepancy.
Fortunately, I am a septuagenarian. The rest of my life will not be as long as the days behind me. I can withstand the annoyance.
Yesterday was my wedding anniversary. I always look at my brief marriage as a dividing line in my life, separating singlehood and widowhood. Thinking about my hands, I wonder if I could achieve a sort of life symmetry.
Birth to meeting my husband was 36.5 years. If I achieve 36.5 years of widowhood ... this has me living to 2039. I'll be 84. That's a good life span. The symmetry appeals to me. I won't quibble about the exact number of days because nothing is perfectly symmetrical.
But it's good to have a life goal ... even if it's kinda odd.

@superbjversion2 They need one of them from time to time!!! I read a story about a lady who used the wash cloth that had sparkles from her daughter before her appointment!! Doctor asked "Are we feeling "festive" today!!!

I've never really looked at my hands long enough to notice finger length differences. I always get stuck on the idea that my hands have looked older than they should for my age. I think my age has finally caught up to their look! Now if we're talking about which boob hangs lower, that is very noticeable these days since I've dropped weight and they've flattened out more than they used to. That bugs me everyday when I'm dressing.
On the idea of symmestry, the accountant in me does like the centered look of things for an ad or a business card. However, that never bothered me with my earrings. I have 3 piercings on my right lobe and 1 on the left. Somehow, I always thought that having it be a bit asymetrical made it more interesting. Cool post.
I may be permanently aware of my stubby right index finger, but I can say that my boobs sag equally!

Are you ever gonna get the left pierced again?!?
@dafocker44 I don't think so. I do want my right ear middle piercing to be redone. It wasn't done very well and sits too close to the same level as the original piercing. I didn't even really know this was a thing until my daughter had some of her piercings redone for not sitting where they should be on her ear. But mine was done so long ago, it won't close. Hers all closed because she took out the stud before they had healed.
I hope that you live well past 2039, with a sound mind and body.

Well you got me sucked into the wiki article... and now I feel like I should study phrenology next! I fit about half the characteristics of people with long fingers whose ring and index fingers are the same length.
I wonder if there have been similar studies on toe length. 🤔

I crave symmetry. I'm not full blown OCD. I just want balance. 4 kids, 2 of each sex. Born on even days in even years. My doc could not believe it. That's me though.

For the curious ... my fingers are short and my ring fingers are longer than my index fingers. I did not compare thumbs and pinkies.
