This is my contribution to the new virtual symposium's mid-month challenge on 'If I Had a Million Dollars' - see Mid Month Challenge 17. The challenge is to list five sensible things and five frivolous things that I would spend the money on.

Despite having a few problems in separating the sensible from the frivolous because my frivolous is sometimes essential in my book, here are my two lists.

FIVE SENSIBLE THINGS

1. Buy or at least hire A classic Volkswagen camper van to follow the Tour de France for the three wees of racing. The VW camper van must have the internet so I can watch the race - bikes fly by in a moment when watching the race on the roadside.
2. Go on a safari in the Serengeti, Tanzania.
3. Pay for the total renovation of my home. And I mean at least re-wiring, re-plastering. new kitchen, new bathroom, re-decorating, re-carpeting, re-tiling, loft conversion, etc.
4. Buy an electric bike.
5. Purchase a Leeds United season ticket. There are well over 25,000 fans on the season ticket waiting list and it's estimated, that if I joined the list, I may get a season ticket in 20 years time. I'll probably be dead by then!

FIVE FRIVOLOUS THINGS

1. Buy this site with the mission of giving free and forever gold membership to all existing active and non-abusive members, hiring top developers (coders, engineers, etc) to fix the glitches and ensure the site remains glitch-free, placing Site Support at the heart of the site's operations, cancelling the plans to open a trendy bar in Seattle, and of course a few unceremonious firings!
2. Buy a cellarful of very fine wine. Expensive French wines will be priority purchases for my wine cellar.
3. Get a weekly delivery, every Friday evening, of an Indian curry. Prawn Ceylon (a hot curry), saag aloo (a spinach and potato side dish), tarka dal (a spicy lentil side dish), onion bhajis (spicy onion fritters), boiled rice and a keema naan (an Indian flatbread stuffed with lamb minced meat) would be mainstays of my weekly orders.
4. Instal a log flume in my garden. (I believe log flumes are called log rides in America.) I wouldn't be able to get rid of my two grandchildren with a log flume in my back garden!
5. Hire Stormy Daniels as an escort for a weekend. She's already accepted my proposition and even said to me that she's like to my companion in the VW camper van tour of France!

I couldn't room for a smartphone or getting my swinging book self-published on either list. Perhaps I should give up on my ambition to buy out this site!

I was thinking about paying for therapy for my stepson but decided against it because I think he may be beyond therapy!

Just to look and at least feel more good, and if there's any money left over, I'd give it to these five charities - Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Hope not Hate, Médecins Sans Frontières and the Red Cross/Red Crescent. I do already regularly give money to two of these charities, Amnesty International and Greenpeace.
