I don't have this problem. But when the Community opened, I turned off most of the blog alerts.
I'm glad you haven't got this annoying problem.
I figured the โ just joinedโ thing was just them trying to fix the โnow followingโ you bug. Shows how much faith I have in the programmers .
That thought crossed my mind too. Turn a glitch into a planned feature!
That was my thought too. Regardless of the cause, it is quite annoying.
I think that's what's happened, the now following notifications appear to have stopped...
@stonnerking The site is being sneaky replacing an unpanned glitch with a 'planned' feature!
When I logged in I had MANY alerts more than normal. I went to the alerts page and found the button for alerting to new followers on blogs I already follow was turned on. But this was not true in ALL cases, just some!
I honestly didn't recall if this was a new feature or not, but what really astounded me was the inconsistency of it. SOME blogs had it turned on, others did not.
I turned it off in all cases - meaningless information to my mind.
My mind boggles about what happened. I've noticed I only get 'Just Joined' alerts off a few blogs I follow but it's still annoying.
@spunkycumfun The consistency of the results of it being implemented speak volumes of the quality of the engineering (and testing) behind its implementation.
@CleavageFan4U There seems to be no or little logic to how this site operates.
The only good thing about the "is now following" alerts is that it seems my "is now following you" alerts have been reduced.
I've noticed that too. At least a little good came from a lot bad!
I have noticed mine are completely gone, I was getting like 30/40 being those someone is following you messages a day, as of today I have gotten zero! YAY for the little things, and I feel sorry for us all BETA sucks donkey dick!
I got one yesterday and had no idea what it was about. Now I know. #site support is there anyway that you can reverse this change? It is very unecessary.
When I visit the beta site, most of my complaints are about things that are there that I don't think are necessary and are very annoying...such as, getting a little 'beep' notification every time someone views me or I get a mail message or having a pulsing green circle around my thumnail pic when I am in a chat room...I was told this was an indication that I was online. lol I don't need an indication that I am online. I did leave feedback and the only response I got was that it was viewed and closed. Andrew left a response that said the issue was 'taken care of'. I guess I need to go back in to see if all the issues I reported that got closed were actually 'taken care of.'
Site Support are aware of the problem and have relayed feedback to the powers-that-be in the site.
I dread to venture into the new site. I've left a lot of feedback, so I have no intention of going there again unless I have to. Each visit to the new site is a depressing experience!
@spunkycumfun I can understand that feeling.
For some strange reason and without telling us, the site has just introduced alerts for new followers of blogs we follow. To get rid of such alerts, you need to go to 'account settings' in your 'Alerts' folder and switch off such notifications.
I haven't been getting these alerts. Quite early on, sometime in 2022, I turned off new follower notifications. I know some people have tried that and it hasn't worked, but for some reason it seems to be doing the trick for me.
If this carries on, I may have to switch off such notifications.
Regarding your first question: Yes, yes, I am receiving those ridiculous and annoying notifications.
Regarding the second: I couldn't care less who follows the same bloggers or groups as me...
However, I keep receiving notifications about waves of "new followers," and my follower count, instead of increasing, decreases every day... oh well...
Those new followers are phantom followers in that they don't exist.
This is been happening for a very long time now and they seriously need to get this fixed as I find it rather annoying. Thanks for the update my friend.
I hope your Tuesday is filled with many sexy temptations..
I only experienced this issue yesterday.
I have 153 notices that people have joined the MERRY WIDOW. Couldn' t care. Let me assure you the new site is continuing the tradition of being buggy. Example: I have notices that I been viewed, I checked them within 10 min, or sooner, the profiles shows the people haven't visited the site in 2 weeks or more. One was 11 weeks. Received an email opened it 4 times over 6 hours, still had the red notification I had a new email. The beta site is basically an attempt to put lipstick on a pig. I think there are some hardware issues and the majority owner isn't willing to invest what it takes to make the site work.
You can turn these inane alert notification via 'account settings' in your 'Alerts' page.
I have that alert turned off, but one trickles through. I'm suspecting it's because the group name starts with @
I've now trawled my list of those I follow to switch off such notifications.
I'm with you - poppycock.
No one seems to like this 'Just Joined' feature.
Totally agree with your sentimentsโฆ.total nonsenseโฆ.aside from that Genesis were legendsโฆ.seen them live 3 times just amazing shows !!!
I'm afraid I could never get into Genesis particularly after Peter Gabriel left the group.
I don't know if this is related to what you're writing about or not, but I have been getting messages from members saying "Thanks for viewing my profile," when I haven't viewed them. This started happening a few weeks ago. Thanks for keeping us informed.
The site allegedly has a habit of sending women unsolicited mail, etc from men. Unfortunately, the site uses women, like your good self, as bait.
Thanks for stopping by.
I didn't noticed nor know about this feature. I completely agree with you: absolutely unnecessary
It's a new feature that the site has rolled out. It would helped if the site had announced to members that it was being rolled out. It would have saved a lot of confusion.
I just went through my settings and turned off notifications for new members for each group I belong to. Turned out to be 11 pages
I've just done that too. I only had six pages to do.
I thought the just joined alerts were a glitch like the now following alerts since I started getting them right after joining a group.
The 'Just Joined' alerts aren't not a glitch.
