I worry almost every single time I see my kids spending too much time on their phones, chatting, playing games, watching videos or forums. Certainly, I don't want them to waste their summer on consuming endless contents on the net.
But I can't do anything about it, actually. I can and I did encourage them to learn guitar or Maths, but they are the ones to decide whether to learn or not.
Anyway, they have 30 or 40 years to figure out how to spend their time. Perhaps, just like everyone else, they only learn when they want or have to learn.
They will grow when they grow.

I understand your concerns, and find them quite valid. I am no parent, so take what I say with a big pinch of salt. In today's age, information we consume is much more efficient and given to us rapidly. From my experience growing up, My mom pushed my brother and I into the boy scouts. Admittedly at the time, I resented being pushed into something I had no say into. But as an adult, I realize just how much of a favor my mom was doing for me. It taught me a lot of socialization skills, got me active, learned some cool tricks and gave me the camaraderie of actual peers, more than any school had. I worry a bit, with my youngest nephews generation, and their social interaction skills. It's very detached, and I feel as though they are to afraid to express themselves in person. And only feel confident behind a screen. It might not be a bad idea to push them into something out of their comfort zones. Anyway, food for thought, I am sure they will still turn out fine
I guess you're right, they will turn out fine. And I know that they will learn when the school year starts. Thing is I can't stop worrying about how much time wasted on social media. There is so much to learn but what they like is just drama.
@little_prince_75 it's what is topical for them, at the moment. I mean, I grew up liking fucking Pokémon haha. Then push them into something, like a sport. You are the commander in chief, and you get to decide what happens. I fought my mom and didn't make it easy for her, haha. Like I said before, as an adult, I am grateful she pushed me to do other things and get out of my comfort zone. At the time it didn't feel as fun, but looking back going to scout camp I had a lot of hilarious fucking memories hahahaha
