After reading a few of the offerings by others I question if ya’ll really understand how far $1M goes these days! That’s really not that much money anymore. I feel like Scott Evil (Seth Green) in "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery"! Shouldn’t this be about 1 BILLION dollars? But here goes my attempt anyway.
Sensible #1 - Secure a secure a nice retirement home/assisted living/nursing home step up spot. $1M divided by $15K/month (high end of care needs) comes out to 5 1/2 years give or take till the money runs out. Well THAT was no fun. 🤣 Now I know how they felt. Let’s start over and with the frivolous items. And do it in Two Broke Girls Style.
Frivolous 1 - Buy a new Mustang convertible. Nothing wrong with the one I have now – low mileage, good shape. But still, it IS 10 years old. And besides the “tech injection” (mapping, driver assist, safety systems, etc.) might be handy when I hit for road with the new wheels! Not sure of the route yet, maybe a Route 66 naughty spot tour? I’ve been to two nekkie resorts somewhat on The Route already, but surely there are other fun distractions to be experienced as well!
Frivolous 2 – Secure me a hot-mama for the trip to ride right seat, provide companionship, and other distractions in the evenings. 😁 Hard as it may be to believe, a “somewhat” age appropriate one would be my preference. I’ve got no moral qualms about it, and since the money is no object, I’d be willing to considering a rent-a-date arrangement. It would have to be an all access/flat rate package deal settled in advance though. Not at all interested in having to negotiate every little detail.”Whoo-hoo-whoo-whoo” $1M-$100K (for both F1 + F2) “Cha-ching” $900K remaining
Frivolous 3 - Take that world tour by private jet trip offered by National Geographic Tours that I’ve long been lusting over.”Whoo-hoo-whoo-whoo” $900K-$100K “Cha-ching” $800K remaining
Frivolous 4 – Repeat concept of Frivolous 3, but this time via a smaller (less than 300 feet / 200 passengers) cruise ship.”Whoo-hoo-whoo-whoo” $800K-$350K “Cha-ching” $450K remaining
Frivolous 5 – I still got $450K to spend??!! OK, maybe I’ll put that towards Sensible 1, well unless some sexy lady has a more fun idea for me. 😂

I've traveled Rte 66 from Baxter Springs, KS to St Louis, MO. My friend had an east to west guidebook with historic "stops". I navigated us to those stops going west to east. I could do it again!
Just a note - the challenge is aimed at seeing what type of things you would do with $1M, not that you have to do all of them.
Most of the guide books are written for east to west, so going the other direction is a real challenge. WHEN I get the $1M I'll surely keep you in mind as A#1 assistant.
I kinda knew I was twisting the theme a bit, but thought it was more enlightening (and fun!) this way.

Your sensible scenario is why I'm hesitant to spend the excess dough that has accumulated since I retired. But then, it's not like it will be the full $15,000 a month coming out of my savings, since I'll still have Soc Sec and pension coming in. I feel a spreadsheet coming on, lol.
Good job on getting rent a date past our overlords.
The challenge with the spreadsheet is that your cost will be like something between, $2.5K and $15K depending on your health and needs. And who really knows what their health will be in 5/10/15 years?
It's all about keywords. Don't use the P one or the W one, and you should be good.
