NVS Mid-Month Challenge 6 - D’oh

Initially I couldn’t really think of something to contribute here. But as has occurred in the past, hours of mindlessly guiding my mower around the yard provided calm thinking time, and a good illustration of this theme occurred to me.

I’d hope I’m not alone in that I end many phone conversations with family/etc. with “Bye, I love youâ€. I’d met an amazing lady on this site. I'd traveled to her ranch nearly a full day’s drive away, and spent a four-days with her. We'd gotten along fantastically and I'd met her entire “fam damnily†as the saying goes. Things went so well we'd extended my visit by a day at the last moment.

Two weeks later I was making another long boring drive (to a much less fun destination) and called her to chat/flirt. As I approached one of the numerous small towns on the route, I spotted what seemed to be an accident in a construction zone. I thought it best to get off the phone ASAP and concentrate on driving, so I quickly said “accidentaheadgottagobyeIloveyouâ€. So then the question became, how would we deal with this! 🤣

Upon getting to the hotel at my destination I called her to advise her of my safe arrival. We chatted a bit. She made no mention of my remark. Finally I mentioned it. She said she absolutely had noted it, but took it for what it was – an ingrained habit.
